Wesley Mancini’s textile designs have shown up in some impressive houses, but he’s far from what you’d call a “household name”, and that’s very much by intention. He’s never sold products to the public or even directly to the trade. Instead, he designs fabrics, rugs, trims and drapery exclusively for a number of weavers, mills, and brands who have had the fortune and foresight to engage his design talent over the last 36 years.

But if most consumers don’t know his name, they’ve seen his textile designs. His work has appeared in major upholstery and fabric lines at every retail price point, as well as rugs designed for high-end weavers and sold through retailers like Neiman Marcus and ABC Carpet & Home. Clients have included Valdese Weavers, Ethan Allen, Mitchell Gold, Drexel, La-Z-Boy, Kravet, Lee Jofa, Fabricut, Henredon, Baker, and Harounian Rugs, as well as celebrity lines like Oscar de la Renta. He’s been recognized with numerous awards and is so well-respected in the textiles world that he was considered “the obvious choice” for the ITMA’s (now ITA) first Lifetime Achievement Award.

It’s his eye for not only interpreting the current trends, but also predicting what taste-making consumers will be wanting next (before they even know they want it) that has made him such a coveted and recognized partner in the industry.

His recent collaboration with Harounian Rugs International continues that eclectic aesthetic that has culminated from a lifetime of education, experience, research, travel, and a pitch-perfect sense of contemporary high-end tastes.

Or as he humbly describes it, “…mixing classical with a little funk with historic…making all that work together.”

The result is a line of hand-knotted rugs that hits that sweet spot perfectly, making any room or style look instantly cool.
